One of our favourite areas of expertise is music collectables... despite our name suggesting we are only interested in Folk/Psychedelic styles, we enjoy experiencing all genres and providing our findings to anybody who is interested.

PRIVATE PRESS RECORDS
Huh?
What is a private press? Well, the easiest definition would be a pressing that was made by the group or artist to sell at gigs, they paid to have it made and sold them themselves... or maybe used them to promote their group to venues, potential managers and labels. This however can stretch a little to include some micro-pressings, which are records pressed up by larger labels and may have been available through that labels catalogue... very difficult in some instances to tell the difference between the two. So, we may place micro pressing under the same umbrella as private pressings.

DEROY
One of our favourite private pressing labels, we have collected so many of these that it has became too much of an addiction, so we are now slowly selling off some of our collection. Set up by Derrick Marsh in the late 1950s, pressing records (acetates) from master tapes provided by the public, all through the 1960s producing both acetates and vinyl until 1978. Derricks main area of interest was cinema organ music, and this tended to be the main output by the label, however, delving through almost anonymous looking records on this label, it is possible to find the occasional folk, rock or jazz albums that not only stand out as rather good, but are often only pressed in quantities of between 1 and 250 copies..
